-What Paul Hatch means is that to always speak the truth because 

lies are hard to control. They just keep building up and up. For example if I was in charge of something and if I didn't do the job, they ask me if i did it and I said yes but didn't do it. Then I just made a mistake to lie to someone. Now it will be difficult for me to say the truth. It would've been more easier if I had spoken the truth and not tell the person a lie. Now i must tell the someone i've lied. A lie being told can cause many things.
